Bruce Springsteen Biography | BruceSpringsteenBiography.com
Before he became known as “the Boss,” Bruce Frederick Joseph
Springsteen was just your average American. Born on September 23,
1949, Springsteen spent most of his childhood years in Freehold,
New Jersey. The small-town Jersey boy had
big city dreams, after watching Elvis Presley on the television.
Inspired by the King’s performance, Springsteen bought a guitar in hopes
of starting a career in music.
From the 60’s and moving well into the 70’s, Springsteen embarked on
a musical journey that saw Bruce joining different bands and
experimenting with various sounds. The band mates Springsteen met
along the way would eventually form the E Street Band. It is in
this time period that Bruce Springsteen really grew as an artist and
developed his own sound.
By 1972, Springsteen had landed a record deal with
Columbia records.
Springsteen’s debut effort “Greetings from
Asbury Park, N.J.”
was critically acclaimed, but suffered poor sales numbers. The
same could be said about his sophomore effort “The Wild, the Innocent,
and the E Street Shuffle.” The third time seemed to be the charm
as Springsteen finally received commercial success with the release of
his third album “Born to Run.” The album paved the way of Springsteen's
career into mainstream success. The multi-platinum selling album,
Born to Run, featured the two hit singles,
Born to Run and
the
Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out, that earned Springsteen
international stardom.
